The Foundation Supergroup Receives Recognition at Apollonia Arts Festival’s Opening

"Every year we give a small award on behalf of the festival - a small statuette "Apollo Toxophoros". This year it will be given to the The Foundation supergroup, said here on Monday evening Margarita Dimitrova, Artistic Director of the Apollonia Arts Festival. Dimitrova added that the musicians will receive the award on September 5 - when their concert is scheduled to take place during the Festival. Official guests at the opening ceremony of the 39th edition of the Festival of Arts were the Mayor of Sozopol, Tihomir Yanakiev, Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova and Tourism Minister Krastyu Krastev.

Dimitrova thanked from the stage of the amphitheater the organizations and business representatives that support the Festival, as well as the media partners of the forum, and the audience that visits Apollonia.

Tourism Minister Dinkova said she is happy to welcome the Apollonia Arts Festival and its 39th edition. She expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Tourism to support the local authorities and businesses to show how much Bulgaria can do "as culture, as art, as people and attitude".

"It is a great honour for me to be here with you and to share together the wonderful emotions of Apollonia. I would like to congratulate all present - guests and organizers for this great celebration of the arts," said Culture Minister Krastev. He added that Apollonia has existed for 39 years and is a major event in the cultural calendar of Bulgaria and the Bulgarians. He pointed out that such initiatives help to position Bulgaria on the international cultural scene - something he said the ministries of culture and tourism want to do is "Cultural Brand Bulgaria". "Bulgaria should be associated with culture, with history and with its artists," the Minister said.

The ceremonial start of the Festival was performed with a gala concert by the Stefan Makedonski National Music Theatre.
