site.btaGovernment Approves Composition of Bulgarian Delegation to NATO Summit in Vilnius on 11-12 July 2023
At its regular meeting Wednesday, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision on determining the composition of the Bulgarian delegation to participate in the NATO Summit on July 11-12 in Vilnius, Latvia, the Government information service said.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov will include the Minister of Defence, Todor Tagarev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tihomir Stoychev, and the Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov
The summit will take place against the backdrop of a radically changed strategic security environment brought about by Russia's unprovoked and unjust war against Ukraine, which is a flagrant violation of the established international legal order and a blow against the existing security architecture. The main outcomes of the Vilnius Summit, related to the continuation of the Alliance's political and practical support to Ukraine, the follow-up of the decisions to strengthen the Alliance's deterrence and defence capabilities and the adoption of a new commitment to defence investment, are a priority of the Executive and are within the competence of the relevant Ministers. The commitments directly affect the management and implementation of state policy in the field of foreign policy and international relations, as well as in the field of defence and the overall leadership of the Armed Forces, the press release said.
