ABV's Kalfin Says Unification of Left Pass through Presidential Elections

Sofia, July 5 (BTA) - The ways towards the unification of the left pass through the forthcoming presidential elections, ABV Deputy Chairman Ivaylo Kalfin commented at a news conference Tuesday, taking a question about his party's relations with the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).

ABV is being exceedingly patient, listening to all kinds of comments in the name of finding common ground, Kalfin said. He added that a broad coalition is required to win these elections against such a powerful opponent as GERB.

"It was clear that ABV was a desired partner for BSP members, only some people in its leadership were not in the clear and were afraid," Kalfin said commenting on the recent referendum in that party about the presidential elections. He said he does not understand the interpretations and comments related to his name and that of former president Purvanov as he has not noticed such a question at the referendum.

Speaking of Brexit, Kalfin commented that Great Britain must first launch the procedure and then enter into negotiations about the conditions for leaving the EU. He noted that the candidates for new PM have already begun speaking of a new formula in which first the conditions are negotiated and then the procedure is launched. In his words, this is absurd and means ЕС "A la carte", like a menu in a restaurant.

Kalfin thinks Brexit is not a good solution for all European countries, which is why the door for BritainТs return should be left open. After the referendum EU should consolidate but should also reform.
