Bulgarian National Radio, Musicautor Resolve Fee Dispute

Sofia, February 24 (BTA) - The Bulgarian National Radio will start broadcasting music from the catalogue of Musicautor from March 1. Following concessions, both parties will conclude an agreement, the national radio said.

The decision of the BNR management is prompted by a desire for a decent pay of the work of Bulgarian musicians and by a commitment as a public media to offer diverse content.

Musicautor banned the national radio from playing contemporary music from the beginning of the year following a dispute over copyright fees. Nusicautor administers Bulgarian and international copyright for its members, about 2,000 Bulgarian and nearly 2 million foreign authors.

BNR alerted the Commission for Protection of Competition, the Sofia City Court and the European Commission to the actions of Musucautor.
