Machine Voting Not an Option for Upcoming Elections

Sofia, February 26 (BTA) - Machine voting will not be an option during the early parliamentary elections on March 26. On Saturday evening, the Central Election Commission (CEC) discontinued the bidding procedure for the supply of voting machines.

The CEC meeting, which could be watched live on the Internet, heard a report by a special committee which concluded that the only bidder for the contract could not meet the technical requirements.

CEC members commented that the lack of voting machines should not compromise the elections and render them invalid.
