Parliament Rejects Opposition-Sponsored Revisions
to Liability for Damage Incurred
by State and Municipalities Act

Sofia, February 6 (BTA) - Parliament on Wednesday rejected on first reading amendments to the Liability for Damage Incurred by the State and Municipalities Act, sponsored by the opposition BSP for Bulgaria.
The vote was 57-34 with 63 abstentions.

The changes would have expanded the scope of liability incurred by the state and the municipalities to include damages resulting from repealed or cancelled statutory acts.

Another portion of the amendments would have introduced legal grounds for seeking compensation for damages incurred by the state through its investigative and judiciary bodies when violating rights enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights. LI/PP
