March 5 (BTA) - National Assembly Chair Tsveta
Karayancheva talked with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev
in Sofia on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by the
leadership of the Bulgaria-Russia Friendship Group in the
National Assembly. Medvedev was shown around the debating
chamber of the legislature and struck the bell together with
Karayancheva.

The guest laid a wreath at the Monument to the Liberator King in
 front of the National Assembly.

Speaking to journalists, Bulgaria-Russia Friendship Group Deputy
Chair Volen Siderov described Medvedev as "extremely
intelligent, shrewd and accurate," and noted that the Russian
Prime Minister used subtle irony when he commented on Bulgaria's
withdrawal from beneficial projects such as the South Stream
natural gas pipeline and the Belene nuclear power plant. "Mr
Medvedev hinted during the talks that such decisions should be
made without so much external interference," Siderov noted.

He vowed that in his capacity as a member of the ruling majority
in Parliament he will do everything to ensure the
implementation of such projects as TurkStream via Bulgaria, not
via Greece, and the existence of "normal economic relations"
between Bulgaria and Russia.

Medvedev arrived on a two-day official visit here on Monday and
conferred with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and President Rumen
