Parliament Adopts Law on European Protection Order
Sofia, May 22 (BTA) - Parliament adopted conclusively Friday a
European Protection Order Act.
The new legislation provides legal ground for recognizing,
enforcing, issuing and sending European protection orders. A
protection measure ordered in one EU member state may be
enforced in another member state where the protected person
intends to reside or stay.
This additional tool for legal protection is aimed to be used by
victims of crime.
The new law sets out specific prohibitions or restrictions on
the person causing danger, against whom a protection order has
been issued. These include a prohibition from entering certain
localities, places or defined areas where the protected person
resides or visits; a prohibition or regulation of contact, in
any form, with the protected person; and a prohibition or
regulation on approaching the protected person closer than a
prescribed distance.
