Bulgaria's Total Exports Up 5.2% in 2015 on Year

Sofia, February 9 (BTA) - In 2015, the value of Bulgaria's exports amounted to 45,500 million leva, up 5.2 per cent on 2014, according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

December exports totalled 3,574 million leva, up 4.4 per cent on a year earlier.

In 2015, imports totalled 51,700 million leva (at CIF prices), up 1.1 per cent on 2014.

December imports dropped by 2.1 per cent from a year earlier to 4,292 million leva.

The total foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) in 2015 was in a deficit of 6,175.3 million leva, 1,688.6 million leva less than in 2014. The January-November trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after eliminating transport and insurance costs on imports) was negative at 2,683.4 million leva.

In December the total foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) was negative at 718.5 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was negative at 458.5 million leva.

In January-November 2015, Bulgaria's exports to the EU increased by 8.3 per cent from a year earlier to 26,900 million leva, NSI preliminary data show.

In November alone, exports to the EU stood at 2,474 million leva, 1.3 per cent more than a year earlier.

January-November imports from the EU totalled 30,400 million leva, up 5.9 per cent on a year earlier.

In November alone, Bulgaria imported goods worth 3,048 million leva (at CIF prices) from the EU Member States, up 7.8 per cent on a year earlier.

In January-November, Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU was negative at 3,467.0 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after eliminating transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative at 1,432.1 million leva.

In 2015, Bulgaria's exports to third countries increased by 0.6 per cent on 2014 to 16,400 million leva, preliminary data show. Bulgaria's main markets were Turkey, China, Serbia, Russia, Macedonia, the United States and Egypt, which accounted for 53.9 per cent of exports to third countries.

In December alone, Bulgaria's exports to third countries increased by 3.2 per cent on a year earlier to 1,413 million leva.

Bulgaria's imports from third countries in 2015 decreased by 5.9 per cent from 2014 to 18,400 million leva (at CIF prices). The main suppliers were Russia, Turkey, China and Ukraine.

In December, Bulgaria's imports from third countries dropped by 8 per cent from a year earlier to 1,436 million leva.

In 2015, Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative at 2,013 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after eliminating transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative at 698.8 million leva.

In December alone, Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative at 23.2 million leva.
