Council for Tripartite Cooperation Rejects Proposal That Employers  Cover Fully Social Security Contributions

Sofia, February 23 (BTA) - The National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC) rejected draft changes to the Social Security Code, proposed by Reformist Bloc MP Peter Slavov, NCTC Chair Ivailo Kalfin told journalists emerging from the meeting, which ended late Monday evening. The changes envisaged that employees' social security contributions be fully paid by the employers. At the same time, the NCTC members backed an Ordinance on the components of remuneration and contributory income.

Kalfin, who is also this country's Labour and Social Policy Minister, explained that the social partners reached an agreement on encouraging self-participation in the social security process.

It was decided at the meeting that Bulgarian Industrial Association President Bozhidar Danev and Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria President Plamen Dimitrov will be NCTC deputy chairpersons as of 2017.
