The southern Ukrainian port of Odesa came under drone attack from the direction of the Black Sea in the early hours on Wednesday, Oleg Kiper, head of the military administration of Odesa Province, said on Telegram.

Sirens in Ukraine's third-largest city were sounded for 51 minutes, starting at 1:22 a.m. local time.

Three people were reported wounded in the attack, Kiper said. They are a 62-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman and a young woman born in 1995. They received medical attendance.

An apartment building was hit in the attack, and 130 people were evacuated from it.

The Bulgarian community in Odesa Province numbers 150,000 people, according to the official population census in Ukraine in 2001, making it the third-largest segment of the Bulgarian diaspora. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa. The largest compact groups of Bulgarians in the province are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
