MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski on Friday said in a statement that "MRF is not for personal use and cannot be private property".
The statement came in response to the National Patent Office's decision on Friday to refuse to transfer the trademark of the MRF party to Ahmed Dogan alone, who is the Honorary Chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party. At the end of July, the Patent Office had received an application for registration of the trademark "MRF Movement for Rights and Freedoms".
"Together, we managed to protect the MRF party from the separatists' demands", Peevski said in the statement. He guaranteed that the time when the party and the people were used for personal gain will never return. "The new beginning means a party of the people and for the people, with a responsible policy for the people and for the state", Peevski emphasised.
The developments follow a rift in the party amid what appears to be a battle over the control of the MRF between Peevski and Dogan. The MRF split into two warring factions, which sought separate registrations for the snap elections. The one behind Peevski will be running in the MRF-New Beginning coalition, with Dogan's faction in the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms coalition.
