Addressing a meeting on road safety at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said that the focus should not be on finding someone to blame for the severe inherited problems, but on finding solutions, and those solutions must come immediately. The meeting was convened by Zhelyazkov with the participation of ministers, representatives of relevant authorities, and NGOs.

"I convened today’s meeting to outline specific measures and to launch active work related to organizational and oversight activities, as well as actions concerning road infrastructure as part of the physical aspects of road safety," Zhelyazkov said, adding that road traffic control had been set as a top priority in the early days of the cabinet’s mandate.

"Today we will discuss not only road safety, but also traffic control and the organizational issues observed in the work of the various agencies and institutions responsible for implementing this public policy," Zhelyazkov emphasized.

Among the participants in the meeting are Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Ivanov, Road Infrastructure Agency’s Management Board Chair Yordan Valchev, State Agency Road Safety Chair Malina Krumova, as well as relatives of victims of road traffic accidents.
