site.btaNinth Edition of "Sofia Trophy" Figure Skating Tournament Draws Some 350 Athletes
Around 350 athletes from 23 countries will participate in the ninth edition of the figure skating tournament "Sofia Trophy", which will be held from January 31 to February 3 at the Winter Sports Palace in the capital. The organizer of the competition, which is for men, women, juniors and children, is the Denkova-Staviski skating club. The competitions are again valid for the European Junior Cup and are part of the initiative "Sofia - European Capital of Sport". Entrance for spectators is free.
Skaters entering the competition this year come from Great Britain, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Kazakhstan, Italy, France, Ukraine, Turkiye, Israel, Switzerland, North Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Bulgaria among others.
The tournament will feature around 120 Bulgarian athletes, including Bulgaria's top female athlete Alexandra Feigin, and men's athletes Larry Loupolover and Alexander Zlatkov.
The men's, women's, and junior races are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
The tournament will determine Bulgaria's squad for the World Championships in Montreal (Canada) in March. Feigin has a quota for the championships, while Loupolover and Zlatkov are fighting for a place in the men's event.
