Tourism Minister Miroslav Borsos met with representatives of the National Tourism Board to discuss the upcoming legislative changes to the Tourism Act, marketing and advertising strategies, development of different types of tourism, and the need for digital transformation in the sector, said the Ministry on Tuesday.

"We have accumulated problems over the years, but effective work, especially on infrastructure issues, is key for the sector. We will take all necessary steps to improve," the minister said. He added that the ministry was working closely with the industry, with the National Tourism Board represented in all working groups, including the two newly established ones on visa policy and health tourism.

Among the main topics of the meeting was the need to create a common communication strategy and to modernize marketing approaches for the presentation of Bulgaria as a tourist destination. Digital reform, inevitable for the development of the sector, was also discussed. The lack of detailed analyses of the tourist flow to the country limits the possibility of targeted and effective management of the resources allocated for advertising and marketing. Minister Miroslav Borsos said that measures have been taken in this direction and explained that without real data on the expectations and preferences of foreign tourists, it is impossible to build an effective tourism development strategy.

The meeting also discussed the Tourism Guarantee Fund, which will provide additional stability for the business and create mechanisms to protect both tourists and tour operators.
