The price of eggs and flour went up by over 5%, while fruit and vegetables went down in the week to March 23. the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets said/
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.85% to 2.366 points. Last week, the index stood at 2.346 points. The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
Eggs (size M) rose by 7.4% and are sold at BGN 0.35 per piece wholesale, while flour type 500 was up by 5.6% to BGN 1.48 per kilogram.
The price of cow brine cheese increased by 1,1% to BGN 11.40/kg and of Vitosha cheese by 0,7% to BGN 18.23 per kilo. Fresh milk (3 % fat content) rose by 1.5% to BGN 2.40 per litre, while yoghurt (3% fat content and above) fell by 0.2 % to BGN 1.30 per package of 400 g.
Poultry went down by 0.1% to BGN 6.45 per kilogram. Butter (a 125 gram package) depreciated by 1.5% to BGN 3.06.
The price of lentils was also up by 1.8% and traded at BGN 4.52 per kilogram. Rice fell by 3% to BGN 3.21 per kilo and beans by 1.3% to BGN 4.32 per kilo. Cooking oil was down by 0.2% to BGN 3.22 per litre. Sugar went up by 1.3% to BGN 1.85 per kilo.
Onions decreased by 17.2% to BGN 1.06 per kilo, cabbage - by 10.8% to BGN 1.27 per kilo, lettuce - by 9.6% to BGN 0.90 per piece, and cucumbers - by 9.3% to BGN 3.22 per kilo. Tomatoes were also cheaper - by 1.4%, to BGN 3.15 per kilo, as well as carrots - by 4.3% to 1.19 leva per kilo. Potatoes fell by 0.9% and they traded at BGN 1.34 per kilo. Garlic rose by 4.1% to BGN 6.80 per kilo.
Oranges rose by 1.9% to BGN 2.19 per kilo and lemons - by 4.1% to BGN 2.53 per kilo. Tangerines saw the biggest drop by 10% to BGN 2.49 per kilo. Bananas were also cheaper - by 1.6% to BGN 2.74 per kilo, apples - by 3.6% to BGN 1.82 per kilo, and grapefruit - by 1.3% to BGN 2.58 per kilo.
