The Total Producer Price Index in Industry rose by 3.6% in December 2024 from the previous month, the National Statistical Institute said on Thursday.

An increase was registered in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 13.6%) and in the manufacturing industry (0.7%). Prices in the mining and quarrying industry went down by 1.5%.

Higher prices were registered in the manufacture of base metals (2.1%), of chemicals and chemical products (2.0%) and of food products and of leather and related products (both by 0.7%). A decrease was seen in other manufacturing (by 0.9%), and in the manufacture of paper and paper products (by 0.8%).

The Total Producer Price Index went up by 5.3% in December 2024 compared to a year earlier. An increase was observed in the mining and quarrying industry (20.2%), in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (11.2%), as well as in the manufacturing industry (2.1%).

Prices rose in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (by 10.8%), the manufacture of furniture (9.7%) and of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (6.9%). A drop in prices was registered in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (5.3%), of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; the manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (4.8%) and in other manufacturing (4.0%).

The Producer Price Index on the Domestic Market increased by 5.1% in December 2024 compared to November 2024. Domestic prices grew in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (12.6%), in the mining and quarrying industry (2.8%) and in the manufacturing industry (0.4%).

Compared to November, higher prices were registered in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (3.0%) and in the manufacture of leather and related products (1.7%). Prices went down in the manufacture of paper and paper products (1.5%), in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (1.2%) and in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (0.8%).

In December 2024, compared with a year earlier, higher prices in manufacturing were seen in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (9.2%), in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (9.0%) and in the manufacture of textiles (8.7%). Lower prices were reported in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (8.4%), of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture; of straw and plaiting materials (6.2%), and in other manufacturing (4.4%).
