A BGN 300 million aid package to help Bulgarian farmers overcome the negative economic impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine will begin to be disbursed on Thursday. It will benefit 51,000 farmers, the caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said on Wednesday ahead of the cabinet's weekly meeting.

He noted that the money will become available to the beneficiaries a week earlier than planned.

The package consists of two parts. Farmers who grow cereals and oil-bearing crops will be supported with BGN 129 million. Other crop growers and animal breeders will get BGN 166 million.
