Train movements between Sofia and other locations in Bulgaria, mainly in the north of the country (Mezdra, Vidin, Varna, Ruse) have been changed, effective May 7, due to the upgrading of the track system at Sofia Central Railway Station, the National Company for Railway Infrastructure said.

The project for developing and upgrading the Sofia Railway Node is entering a new stage, the press release said. Between Track No. 6 and Track No. 12 at Sofia Central Railway Station, train movements have been suspended to allow further construction work. The timetable has been adjusted to keep trains running and make maneuvers possible.

Some of the trains between the capital and Northern Bulgaria will depart from, and arrive at, Sofia North instead of the central station.

Construction work for the track system upgrade is expected to last 15 months. The project is funded by the Connecting Europe Facility.

Details about train movement changes can be obtained from the information desks and the ticket offices at the respective railway stations, or at telephone 02/931-11-11, or from the electronic guide on the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) website: www.bdz.bg.
