site.btaMortgage Loans Up by 22.7%, Consumer Loans Up by 13.2% in March Y/Y
In March 2024, loans to Non-financial corporations increased by 8.2% annually (8% annual growth in February 2024) and at the end of the month amounted to BGN 45.041 billion (22.7% of GDP), the Bulgarian National Bank said on Tuesday.
Loans to Households and NPISHs were BGN 40.071 billion (20.2% of GDP) at the end of March 2024. They increased by 17.5% compared to the same month of 2023 (17.1% annual growth in February 2024).
At the end of March 2024 loans for house purchases were BGN 20.932 billion and increased by 22.7% annually (22% annual growth in February 2024).
Consumer loans amounted to BGN 17.437 billion and compared to March 2023 they rose by 13.2% (13.1% annual growth in February 2024).
On an annual basis other loans10 increased by 2% (0.2% annual decline in February 2024) and reached BGN 410.2 million. In March 2024, loans to Sole proprietorships and partnerships without legal status increased annually by 9.3% (6.7% annual growth in February 2024) reaching BGN 472.2 million.
Loans granted to financial corporations were BGN 7.619 billion at the end of March 2024 (3.8% of GDP). Compared to March 2023, they increased by 19.5% (23.1% annual growth in February 2024).
