site.btaDeficit of BGN 3.454 Bln Reported in General Government Sector Statistics

The General Government sector reports a deficit of BGN 3.454 billion, or 1.9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in 2023, show preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, published on Monday.

The Central Government sub-sector had a deficit totalling BGN 3.375 billion (1.8% of GDP). The Local Government sub-sector too had a deficit (BGN 201 million), while the Social Contributions sub-sector registered a surplus of BGN 121 million.

Bulgaria's debt for 2023 totalled BGN 42.383 billion, or 23.1% of the country’s GDP.
