site.btaBulgaria’s Industrial Production Down by 8.4%, 3rd Largest Largest Decrease in EU, Y/Y
An 8.4% decline in seasonally adjusted industrial production was reported in Bulgaria in February 2024 year-on-year, according to first estimates from Eurostat. This is the third largest annual decrease in the EU following those in Ireland (-36%) and Belgium (-12,7%).
The highest increases were observed in Spain (+3.5%), Slovenia (+2.8%), and Denmark (+2.7%).
Eurostat data show that industrial production decreased by 6.4% in the euro area and by 5.4% in the EU in February 2024 on an annual basis.
Industrial output went up by 0.7% in the EU and by 0.8% in the euro area month-on-month. In January 2024, industrial production fell by 2.7% in the EU and 3% in the euro area.
In February 2024, compared with February 2023, industrial production in the EU decreased by 7.5% for capital goods, by 3.5% for energy, and by 2.5% for intermediate goods. Industrial output went down by 4.7% for non-durable consumer goods and by 3.9% for durable consumer goods.
