The Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) issued Kozloduy NPP permission to store fresh RWFA nuclear fuel on the site's territory. The scope of the permitted activities includes only receiving and storing the cartridges in the fresh fuel node, the NRA said.

The fuel was produced by Westinghouse.

The operation of RWFA cassettes at Unit 5 of the Kozloduy NPP will be possible after completion of the initiated licensing process, the announcement also states.

At the end of November last year, the NRA received all the necessary documents for issuing a permit to use the fuel from Westinghouse for Unit 5 of Kozloduy NPP.
