site.btaBulgaria to Open Its First Tourist Office in Spain in 2024, Minister Dinkova Says
Bulgarian Tourism Minister Zaritza Dinkova held a working meeting with Spanish State Secretary for Tourism Rosana Morillo, the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. During the meeting with Morillo, Dinkova said that Bulgaria will open its first tourist office in Spain in 2024 as a result of the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the increasing number of Spanish tourists visiting Bulgaria.
Morillo stressed that Bulgaria and Spain should work closely together to boost tourism between the two countries. "The tourism industry has overcome the COVID crisis and the number of tourist trips made confirms it. What Spanish citizens need to know is that Bulgaria is a country that offers many opportunities and deserves to be visited," Morillo noted.
The Spanish market is extremely important for Bulgaria, Dinkova further stressed, adding that a serious increase in the number of tourists (nearly 42%) was registered.
Dinkova and the Bulgarian Ministry’s delegation are visiting Spain as part of the FITUR 2024 international tourism fair in Madrid, which will take place between January 24 and 28. In 2024, a total of 17 representatives of the Bulgarian tourism industry, including tour operators, travel agents, and municipal employees, will take part in the event and will have the opportunity to present their tourism products, Dinkova stressed. Bulgaria will be presented as a destination for year-round tourism, offering winter, cultural, eco, SPA and wellness tourism.
From January to November 2023, a total of 175,377 Bulgarians visited Spain. For the same period, 72,591 Spaniards visited Bulgaria.
