Innovation and Growth Minister Milena Stoycheva is taking part in the 16th European Space Conference in Brussels on January 23 and 24. The conference is focused on the development of space technology in Europe and innovation in this field, Stoycheva's ministry said on its website on Tuesday.

The two-day meeting is discussing the most pressing issues and challenges facing the European space ecosystem and its future plans and initiatives.

In November, Stoycheva said Bulgaria was aspiring for associated membership of the European Space Agency (ESA) and was gradually increasing its financial contribution to the organization. Back then, Stoycheva took part in an ESA Ministerial Council meeting in the framework of the 2023 Space Summit in Seville.

The minister attaches key importance to the space sector as it drives new technologies and innovations. She said the dynamic development of the European space industry allows companies to grow faster, attract private and institutional investors and introduce business innovation by using space data for the benefit of society and the economy.
