Nearly 1.8 million consumers have a personal identification number (PIN) issued by the National Revenue Agency (NRA), allowing them to use its electronic services as well as those of the National Social Security Institute, the National Health Insurance Fund, the National Employment Agency, the Registry Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and 70 municipalities, among other administrations. In 2023, over 190,000 PINs were issued, of which 11,000 to legal persons. More than 500,000 used their PINs to submit their annual tax declaration online, the NRA said Monday.

The NRA's e-platform offers over 170 services accessible through a PIN or an electronic signature. With their PIN, a consumer can access more than 60 electronic services, such as submission of tax and insurance declarations, checks and payment of due local taxes and fees, and checks for current state of employment contracts. Tax payers can also take advantage of an auto-filled tax declaration accessible on the NRA's e-services portal as of early March.

One can request a PIN by calling the NRA at 0700 18 700, sending an email to infocenter@nra.bg or a letter to the NRA, or using the Electronic Governance Ministry's system for secure online submission. The PIN can be received only in person at an NRA office of the applicant's choosing.
