site.btaAgriculture Minister Calls for Better Results in Forestry

Agriculture and Food Minister Kiril Vatev on Thursday called for better results in the forestry sector, noting that forests are hugely important to Bulgaria. The concept that results matter most, underpins all government policies, Vatev said at a working meeting with representatives of the state-owned forestry companies and the regional directorates of the Executive Agency for Forests (EAF), as quoted by his ministry.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Agriculture and Food Ministers Miroslav Marinov and Georgi Toshev, and EAF Executive Director Stoyan Toshev.

Forestry company officials said that firewood supply is going at a normal pace and there are sufficient amounts to meet consumption needs. Concerning fire prevention, speakers said that the approved plans are being implemented without delay and all necessary measures have been taken to protect forest areas.
