The Minister of Energy Rumen Radev and the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson discussed revising the Recovery and Resilience Plan and Bulgaria's territorial just transition plans during an informal meeting of environment and energy ministers in Valladolid, Spain, Bulgaria's Energy Ministry reported on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, who spoke with President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels on June 28, said that the government is making every effort to catch up with the backlog on the national Recovery and Resilience Plan so that a second payment to Bulgaria will be possible by the end of the year.

Former Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Angelina Boneva, who oversees "European Funds and Programmes", told BTA that if by the end of 2023 not all actions are taken to present the Territorial Plans, Bulgaria risks losing some of the regional investment opportunities that would be otherwise available.
