Just over 26% of companies that participated in a Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) poll on artificial intelligence (AI) use AI in their business processes and 27.5% plan to invest in AI in the next three years, BIA said. For 18.3% of businesses introducing AI is too costly and for another 18.3% it is unnecessary. One in ten companies is undecided on the use of AI.

BIA took the poll in June 2023 to establish the level of preparedness of the businesses to take advantage of AI. The respondents were representatives of over 150 export-oriented companies in various sectors, including food production, electronics, IT and retail.

For the needs of another project, the poll paid special attention to companies in the organic food industry. It found that one in five companies in this sector use AI and another 20% plan to use it. 40% believe that they don't need AI. For 10% it is too expensive and another 10% are still undecided.
