Vice President Iliana Iotova attended Wednesday the forum "The Untold Stories of the Bulgarians".

The national programme of the same name explores the lineage of notable Bulgarians or events that are significant for the civilizational development of Bulgaria.

In Iotova’s words, the programme shows that it is not always enough for kids to read history textbooks or educational websites, and that the children involved showed investigative flair and interest in the unknown.

“This programme is also extremely avant-garde because it often reverses the roles of adults and children, and credit is due to the teachers who work abroad,” the Vice President said. She thanked them on behalf of herself and the presidential institution for their tireless work guiding and helping the young researchers.

The programme is also cutting-edge in that for the first time it has fulfilled a dream of ours - to have a closer link between the Saturday and Sunday schools abroad, our pride, and the Bulgarian lectorates abroad,” Iliana Iotova said.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Education at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

The research and materials developed by the Bulgarian Sunday Schools are extremely diverse - films, books, presentations and reports. All of them are shown at the forum, in which the ambassadors of the initiative participate.

The forum was attended by caretaker Education and Science Minister Prof. Galin Tsokov and his predecessors, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov, Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov, and former Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov, among others.
