site.btaBulgaria's Southeast among Few EU Regions with over 95% Electrified Railway Lines - Eurostat
The southeastern Bulgarian region of Yugoiztochen is one of the leading EU regions in rail electrification, Eurostat said on Tuesday. In 2022, 96.5% of the railway lines in that Bulgarian region were electrified, which was the case in only seven other regions of the Union.
The EU regions with 100% electrified railway lines numbered only six in 2022.
In 2022, Bulgaria had a total of 4,029 km of railway lines, of which 3,005 km were electrified, a check by BTA in Eurostat's database shows. In the EU, electrified railway lines constituted 56.9% of its 202,100 km of lines.
