Caretaker Education Minister Galin Tsokov Friday presented teachers with the Konstantin Velichkov Awards. He told the participants at the awarding ceremony that the more than 95,000 pedagogical professionals working with Bulgarian children are the contemporary awakeners. 

The Konstantin Velichkov Award is given to teachers with achievements in education. The awards of the Ministry of Education and Science are presented every year on November 1 to teaching professionals who have contributed to the development of the education system, managed to inspire and motivate students to achieve better results and develop their talents. 

In 2024, there were 73 nominations for the award and from these, nine teaching professionals were selected and awarded in five categories.

After the award ceremony, the awarded teachers and 50 students from schools in the capital took part in a themed open lesson at the Ministry of Education and Science with the actress Gergana Stoyanova as the host.
