site.btaSofia to Host Japanese Art Exhibition in September as Part of Days of Japanese Culture
An exhibition of Japanese art, Silent Dialogue, features works by Kakuko Ishii, Ichiro Matsuo, Mitsuru Kuroki, Toru Kurita and Jeong Moon is opening on September 4 at the Triangular Tower of Serdica, the Regional History Museum said. The event is part of the autumn edition of Sofia Paper Art Fest and the 35th Days of Japanese Culture in Bulgaria.
Each of the artists is showing a characteristic medium, and the works are specially created for the space of the Triangular Tower of Serdica. Silent Dialogue is an impressive and intriguing exhibition, drawing the vast diversity of different trends in contemporary Japanese art, the organizers said. The exhibition will be opened by a representative of the Japanese Embassy and in the presence of the authors.
They have two more exhibitions coming up in September - "Caught in a Spiral" (at The Mission Gallery) and "Japanese Impressions" (at Mazda Gallery).
On the programme of the Days of Japanese Culture is also a kimono talk and show (the opening event on September 1), calligraphy exhibitions and ikebana. This autumn's programme includes 23 events in seven cities across the country: Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven, Stara Zagora and Kazanlak, organizers said.
The programme marks three anniversaries in bilateral relations: 115 years since the first official contacts between the two countries, 85 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and 65 years since their restoration. Many of the events will be hosted by prominent Japanese artists.
The festival is organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Nihon Tomono Kai Club in Bulgaria.
