The Bulgarian crew members of the Galaxy Leader ship, Captain Lyubomir Chanev and First Officer Danail Veselinov, are on their way to Muscat, Oman, aboard a special Oman Air flight, MEP Elena Yoncheva wrote on Facebook. She also noted that she is in Oman, where a delegation led by Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev is expected to arrive on Wednesday evening.
The crew had been held captive by the Houthi movement in Yemen for over a year.
"We will make a joint statement, where we will provide more details," Yoncheva added.
The authorities in Sanaa, Yemen, confirmed to Yoncheva that the Bulgarian crew members have been released and are on their way to Muscat.
Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis have released the crew of the Galaxy Leader more than a year after they seized the Bahamas-flagged vessel off the Yemeni Red Sea coast, Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV reported on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters.
