The second edition of the Open Vratsa Festival started here on Saturday. Thousands of Vratsa residents and guests of the city are expected to attend the event, which will feature more than 40 musicians, painters, magicians and artists.

Head of the Open Vratsa Foundation, Hristo Hristov, said: "This year, in addition to contemporary art and culture, we are also presenting traditional crafts. We are holding most of the events in the Ethnographic-revival complex St. Sophronius Vrachanski precisely to promote local history and traditions." Open Vratsa Foundation and the non-profit association Vola Open Mind are the two main organizers of the festival.

Guests will be able to learn to paint, create their own clay pot or objects made of stained glass under the mentorship of professional artists and craftsmen.

An open-air theatre will screen the films Theo's Formula and Geo Milev in the Labyrinth of Time on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Four DJs will mix disco, hip-hop and funk among other genres, while other musicians will be playing bossa nova live.

Robotics and programming academy, Lego workshops, balloon modelling, magic tricks, face painting, breakdance dance show are some of the attractions specifically aimed at children visiting the festival.

The event will be open in the city centre throughout the weekend between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
