Vincent Ruffin with his project Pool and Axel Morel with Remains take part in Culturama Fest 2024 Water Live. Their projects will be exhibited until July 2 at Sofia Regional History Museum’s Triangular Tower of Serdica, the organizers said.
"In his first exhibition in Sofia, Vincent Ruffin will present dreamlike visions on the theme of water and in particular water bodies, places for relaxation and play, where bare bodies are shown as they are, unadulterated, with a proud posture or shyly", the team said. The exhibition contains Ruffin’s large-format works, some of which will be shown later in La Rochelle and Hong Kong.
Fossilized octopuses, like jeweller's ornaments, crawl out of the frame and expose themselves and their gilded tentacles like in a horror dream. Through his works, the artist reminds us of the vulnerability of the inhabitants of the ocean depths, the team notes.
Vincent Ruffin was born in 1972 in Cambrai, Northern France. He lives and works in La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Cambrai and the London Art School (UK). Since 2019, he has been the artistic advisor of the Carbon Essence Collective.
Axel Morel graduated from the professional school of arts and crafts, specializing in stage costumes. A master of embroidery, he has worked with various theatre and dance productions, following historical reinterpretation and symbolism.
