Sofia is hosting the 15th edition of an event titled Macedonian Literary Visit, which aims to make more popular in Bulgaria literature by authors from the Republic of North Macedonia and enhance cultural ties between the two countries, said North Macedonia’s Cultural Information Centre in Sofia. The Literary Visit will take place between June 6 and 8 with the participation of 11 poets and writers of several generations.

This traditional event is organized by Skopje's Makavej Publishing House in cooperation with the Cultural Information Centre in Sofia, with support from the Culture Ministry in Skopje.

The Literary Visit has contributed significantly to bringing North Macedonia’s and Bulgaria’s literature closer together, with over 100 books initiated and translated in both countries, the Cultural Information Centre said.

The participation of almost a hundred Macedonian poets, essayists and translators in all previous editions will be remembered with the screening of a mini-documentary, 15 Years of Macedonian Literary Visit in Sofia, produced by Makavej Book Publishing.

During this edition of the Literary Visit, a Literary Daedalus Award will be presented to a Bulgarian author who has significantly contributed to enhancing cooperation between writers from the two countries. This year's recipient of the award is the recently deceased Bulgarian writer Alek Popov, whose works have long been a favourite of readers in both Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
