The weather conditions for hiking on Tuesday are poor, the Bulgarian Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service told BTA. The highest degree of avalanche risk is in force due to heavy snowfall in recent days.
It is cloudy and foggy. Temperatures are freezing, between minus 10C and minus 15C. It is snowing lightly in the Rhodopes and Pirin. Moderate wind is blowing in some places in the area of the Balkan Mountains, Mount Botev.
There is a danger of frostbite. No incidents with tourists have been recorded over the past twenty-four hours.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said that it would be cloudy and foggy over the mountains. There will be snowfall at many places. There will be moderate to strong easterly wind, south-southwesterly on the ridges. Highs at an altitude of 1,200 meters will be about minus 5C, about minus 8C at 2,000 m.
A record low of minus 12C was measured this morning in Pamporovo. The snow cover in the resort reached 120 cm after the snowfall in recent days.
