Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry Thursday issued an advisory ahead of a strike in Belgium's public and air transport on March 31.
Brussels Airlines has alerted passengers that a large-scale strike will be taking place on March 31 and air traffic will be disrupted. This will have an impact on the handling companies at Brussels Airport in Zaventem. The air carrier is assessing the impact of the social actions on its flight schedule. Still, it has advised passengers that even if their flights are scheduled to go ahead as planned for now, they can check alternative flights for March 28 to April 9.
The largest rail trade unions in Belgium have announced that their members will also take industrial action on March 31.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry advises Bulgarian citizens, temporarily or permanently residing in Belgium to plan their trips carefully. They should check updates on flight and train schedules before travelling.
The Belgian train drivers' union ASTB-SACT has major strike plans for the coming months. The union wants to strike for six consecutive days in April on as yet unannounced dates. From May, there would be a two-week strike every month, Belga News Agency reported.
