Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Anguelieva represented Bulgaria at the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Summit of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which was held on March 20 in Paris, the ministry's press office said on Friday.

Bulgaria is attending the forum as a participant for the third time. In addition to the Committee members, the meeting was attended by observers, key partners, representatives of leading international organisations, and others. Mathias Cormann, OECD Secretary General, welcomed the participants.

This year's DAC Summit focused on three issues: aid effectiveness for development, working with partners, and mobilizing additional financing for sustainable development.

Increasing the effectiveness of development aid is crucial for our collective efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Deputy Minister Anguelieva said in her speech. She stressed that the DAC must continue to play a key role in promoting effectiveness by focusing on strengthening the implementation of existing principles, adapting to new global realities, and consolidating and improving its own role as a leader in development cooperation.

The Bulgarian Deputy Minister noted that the Committee's recommendations and guidance on aid effectiveness should reflect the current global landscape and lessons learned over the past decade. She highlighted the added value of deepening dialogue and cooperation with emerging donors, South-South cooperation providers, philanthropic organizations, and the private sector.

Maria Anguelieva congratulated Latvia on its admission as a member of the DAC on March 19, 2025.
