Parliament did not give permission to lift the immunity of MP Dzheyhan Ibryamov from the parliamentary group of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF). The decision was made in connection with a request by Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov to continue the criminal proceedings against Ibryamov.

On Friday, 59 MPs voted in favour of lifting Ibryamov's immunity, 97 were against, and 63 abstained.

The motion was supported by MRF - New Beginning, Moral Unity Honour (MECh), and 17 MPs from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB).

Dzheyhan Ibryamov was brought to criminal responsibility for two crimes, the prosecution service said. One is that in October 2019, in Sofia, he asked for and took BGN 20,000 to exert influence in the decision-making of an official of the Ministry of Health to issue a permit to provide a group of biocides on the market. The second accusation is for requesting BGN 400,000 in September 2024 in Sofia from Miroslav Todorov in order to exert influence in decision-making by officials from the Ministry of Defence in connection with their public procurement service.
