Bulgaria’s National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova Wednesday held a meeting with Chief Mufti Mustafa Hadzhi and other leaders of the Muslim denomination in Bulgaria, the parliamentary press office said. The meeting was held on Kiselova's initiative.
Chief Mufti Mustafa Hadzhi congratulated Kiselova on her election as Chair of the 51st National Assembly and expressed gratitude for her attention to the issues faced by the Muslim community in Bulgaria. "We hope that Parliament will address the numerous pressing issues that have built up over the years and fulfill its constitutional mandate," he remarked.
He emphasized the critical importance of education for Bulgaria’s youth, highlighting efforts by the Muslim denomination to provide opportunities for higher Islamic education within the country.
Kiselova acknowledged that the delayed election of Parliament Chair had affected parliamentary activities. “The majority of MPs understand the need to make efforts and seek compromises on issues of national importance,” Kiselova said, adding that achieving consensus remains challenging due to strained relations carried over from previous legislatures.
