Bulgarian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Tihomir Stoychev presented his credentials to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.

At the ceremony and in the subsequent conversation with King Charles III, Ambassador Stoychev noted the cultural ties and the long history of diplomatic relations of over 145 years that bind the two countries. The joint declaration, signed in October 2023, elevated these relations to the level of a "strategic partnership", the Ministry said.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Bulgaria and the UK in the fields of combating illegal migration, security and defence, trade and economy, technology and innovation, science and education, culture and tourism. Special attention was paid to the large Bulgarian community in the UK and its role as a natural bridge between the two nations.
