1881: State Council is established as supreme authority by princely decree during Full Powers Regime (1881-1883). State Council abolished on November 9, 1883, after restoration of Tarnovo Constitution (September 6, 1883).
1905: First national association of firefighters is set up.
1943: Bulgaria's 60th Government, headed by Dobri Bozhilov, is sworn in (in office until June 1, 1944).

1946: 28th Ordinary National Assembly proclaims Bulgaria People's Republic, based on results of referendum on abolition of monarchy, held on September 8, 1946. Vassil Kolarov is elected interim Chairman of People's Republic.
1947: Allies' Treaty of Peace with Bulgaria, signed in Paris on February 10, 1947, enters into force.
1971: Diplomatic relations are established with Equatorial Guinea at embassy level.
1992: Bulgarian Foreign Minister Stoyan Ganev is elected President of 47th UN General Assembly Session.
1999: In Sofia, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan sign intergovernmental Agreement on Reciprocal Encouragement and Protection of Investments.
