Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov will participate via videoconference in an emergency meeting on Ukraine hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, the Bulgarian Cabinet reported in a press release here on Wednesday. Bulgaria received an invitation from the Elysee Palace to participate in the meeting, the statement said.

This is the second meeting the French president has organised on the future of Ukraine. On February 17, concerned by the dialogue between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin over Ukraine, leaders of key European countries held an emergency meeting in Paris to present a united front but also revealed their differences over sending peacekeeping troops, AFP reported.

Emmanuel Macron convened an informal mini-summit with a dozen leaders of European countries, the European Union and NATO. It was attended by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, NATO chief Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa. Just before meeting them, Macron spoke with Donald Trump on the phone for about 20 minutes, however, the French President's office did not disclose details of the conversation.
