The Cabinet adopted a resolution to close the Development Council with Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

The structure and composition of the Development Council is entirely identical to that of the Council of Ministers, with the Prime Minister as Chair, a Deputy Prime Minister appointed by the Prime Minister as Deputy Chair and the Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers as members. The Development Council completely duplicates the Council of Ministers and it is therefore illogical and inappropriate for it to act as an advisory body to the Council of Ministers.

The work of the Development Council since its establishment in 2023 shows that it is mainly engaged in reviewing and agreeing draft strategic documents, reporting on their implementation or progress in implementation, and approving proposals for the development of new strategic documents.

The Council's coordination procedure is complicated and creates additional difficulties, including bureaucratic, organizational and technical ones.
