Conditions for hiking in the mountains are good, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) told BTA.

Cloudy at some places, broken cloud at others, with fog-like conditions at higher elevations, the MRS added. There is also snowfall at places in the mountains.

Temperatures range between minus 13C and minus 6C, with a new snow cover of around 15 centimetres. The MRS advised all those who choose to hike in the mountains to take into account the new snow that has fallen.

Resorts' facilities are working, mountain rescuers added.

It will be cloudy in the mountains with heavy snowfall in the eastern Balkan Mountains, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said.
