Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Governor Dimitar Radev proposed to the National Assembly the nomination of Radoslav Milenkov as BNB Deputy Governor, head of the Banking Supervision Department, for a second consecutive term, Central Bank reported on its website on Wednesday.

Milenkov was elected for the position from the 44th National Assembly on March 22, 2019 with a six-year term.

Under Radoslav Milenkov's current term, all priorities set upon his election in 2019 have been met, BNB wrote. This is confirmed by the country's accession to the Banking Union in October 2020, as well as the subsequent credible and effective banking supervision carried out by the BNB in the context of its full participation in the Single Supervisory Mechanism, the Central Bank added.

The BNB pointed out that the re-election of Milenkov as head of the Banking Supervision Department will ensure the continuity, competent management and effectiveness of one of the BNB's core functions - regulating and supervising the activities of the country's banks.
