Outgoing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Korneliya Ninova published on her Facebook page on Wednesday morning a photo of a letter dated September 3 and addressed to the BSP National Council, in which she states that she is ready to register the party for the upcoming mayoral elections scheduled for October 20. The letter, signed by Ninova, along with Ivan Chenchev and Krum Donchev, points out that the deadline for having the party registered with the Central Election Commission is September 4 and states that the responsibility for BSP's participation in the elections lies with the party's acting leadership.

Ninova along with Chenchev and Donchev was expelled from the party by the National Council of the BSP on September 1.

In her Facebook post, Ninova said that in the last local elections in October 2023, the BSP improved its results by increasing both the number of mayors it gained and party's presence in municipal councils.

She added: "We declare that we are ready to sign and submit all documents on behalf of the BSP, if they are provided to us. So far, they have not been. The responsibility for not showing up for these elections will be on the acting leadership of the party."
