Parliament Rejects Proposal for National Referendum on Keeping Bulgarian Lev Until 2043

Parliament on Wednesday rejected a proposal by Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People for a national referendum to preserve the Bulgarian lev as national currency until 2043. 

The proposal was supported by 63 MPs from Vazrazhdane, There Is Such a People", BSP for Bulgaria and 12 independent MPs. A total of 107 MPs voted against, two abstained.

The proposal was opposed by GERB-UDF, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and two independent MPs.
